Chicago Fashion Week 2013

Hello everyone! This week my family and I went to fashion week in Chicago for the first time. It was simply wonderful. We only got to go on Wednesday (we are very busy people!) but nevertheless, it was really amazing. All of the designers whose creations we saw on Wednesday were very talented and so were the models.

Now, I know that this is a nail art blog, not a fashion blog, and so, in case you were wondering, I did do my nails for the event. I wore Zoya's Veruschka on my fingernails. It's a deep, matte green color that reminds me of the forest. It's a really fall-like green and probably the prettiest green that I have. ( I will do a separate blog post featuring my nails.). Sadly though, I don't know what was worn at the fashion show. I wasn't sitting that close

Now, back to the subject. I found my experience at fashion week to be very inspiring. I was thinking of trying to create a nail art design based off of the trends that I noticed or based off of a particular outfit? Please tell me what you think of that idea. As we were sitting really close, we were able to capture some pretty good pictures (which I have placed underneath this text). I hope that you all enjoyed this post and all of the pictures in it. Maybe they can be as inspiring to you as they were to me. Please comment on this post and subscribe to this blog. I will talk with you all soon! Bye!

PS: By the way, my sister has a blog post on our experience at fashion week too. Here's the link: http://ashleypopstyle.blogspot.com/2013/10/fashion-week.html

Covergirl 'glosstinis' review

Hello again everyone! Covergirl currently has limited edition, summery nail polishes named 'glosstinis.' I thought that the name of the collection and the colors of the polishes were awesome so I bought two of them. I tested them yesterday and I really liked them. Therefore, I decided to do a review on them to share my opinion with you all.

First off, I think that they have an excellent formula. They went on smoothly, they didn't streak, and they were pretty opaque for the colors that I chose. The yellow was less opaque then the peachy one, but I think that it was still pretty opaque for a yellow. They also only require two coats of polish as it should be.

The colors of both of them were also very pretty. The first color, which is named 'Bahama Mama,' was a peachy, shimmery color with some pink in it. The other one, which is named 'Lemon Drop' is a bright, creamy yellow, but it isn't too bright. Both colors are also almost perfectly true to the color that they are in the bottle. I simply adore the two that I have and I want to go and buy the rest of them.

Below are pictures of the polishes on my nails, and in the bottles. I decided to wear 'Bahama Mama' on the majority of my fingers and 'Lemon Drop' as an accent on my ring finger.  I hope that you enjoyed this review and will give your input, and/or subscribe to my blog! I will talk to you guys later. Bye!

Hello again everyone! I created a really simple nail art design to share with you guys. It's simply pink, with white hearts and green polka dots. I haven't been in the mood for anything elaborate. But still, I hope that you guys enjoy this one!

Independence Day Mani

Hello everyone! I'm so sorry that I haven't  posted in so long. Life just got really busy for me. But, It's the 4th tomorrow! Which means that it'll be Independence Day! So, I made a patriotic nail art design. It was very heavily inspired by both Cutepolish and IHaveaCupcake. It was a very simple design, just stripes and stars. I don't remember if either of their tutorials added glitter, but I did add glitter to the red and white stripes. I hope that you guys enjoy this, and that it inspires you to do it too! I'll talk to you guys later! Don't forget to subscribe, and happy 4th of July!

Fun Spring French Tips

Hello again everyone! Spring is finally here! And I am finally on spring break! So, this nail art design is dedicated to spring time. This was a design inspired by the wonderful and amazing Bubzbeauty. This design is like a ruffly, slanted french tip. They are all multicolored, polka-dotted, colorful and fun! So here are some pictures of them. I really liked this design and I simply LOVED it's simplicity. So, I hope that you guys enjoy and like this. I will talk to you later when I do my Easter design. (Lord willingly.) Please comment and subscribe to this blog! Thanks!

St. Patrick's Day nail art / Essie "No Chips Ahead" review

Happy late St. Patrick's Day everyone!! Please forgive me, I'm really late on this one. But that's okay! I've created my own nail art design for St. Patrick's Day. I did green with a gold french tip (kinda) and on my ring finger I did a green and gold french tip with a little 3 leaf clover. I don't have much to say about this one. I like it though. The first two pictures are of this design.

Nail Polishes used: Sinful Colors - Basecoat, Zoya - Tracie, Sephora - Don't Be Eggnogious, Sephora by opi - Leaf Him At the Altar, Essie - No Chips Ahead

Now, I am also doing a review on Essie's "No Chips Ahead." My mom bought this one a few days ago, and I finally got a chance to try it when I did this design. I have been looking for a good new top coat for a little bit, because Seche Vite started changing the whites in my designs into a light pink color. Yeah, it was pretty creepy. So, I think that this one is a really good one. It did take it a little longer than normal for it to start chipping, so that's good. And I think that it dries within the normal time of nail polish, so that's good too. I won't know if it does well with whites though until I actually use white! But so far, I like it, and I will recommend it!

Well everyone, that's all I have for today! I hope that you've enjoyed this post! Please comment on this post, and subscribe to this blog! I'll try to post more frequently! Thanks.

valentine's day candy nails

Hello everyone! Today I have created a nail art design for valentine's day. They were inspired, in a way, by those valentine's day candy hearts. I had very limited nail polish choices and it took me very long to figure out what I could do, but I am very happy with what I came up with. I hope that you guys like it. please comment and subscribe! Thanks!

My Zoya Shipment Came!

Hello everyone! So, I ordered some nail polish from Zoya about two weeks ago. They were having this amazing promotion, where you get any three nail polishes for free, and you just have to pay $10 of shipping. It was awesome. So, needless to say, I got three nail polishes. I was just going to show you guys which three  I got; almost like a haul post or something...... a really small one. Well, I will just get right to the polishes that I bought.

So, first, I knew that I wanted bright colors that popped. I wanted orange more than anything, and of course I wanted something from their newer collections! Well, I was extremely disappointed to learn that I couldn't get any of their pixie dust, or their new 'Lovely' spring 2013 collection for free. So, I decided to try to go with their 'Beach & Surf' collections. I wanted a bright orange color that didn't look too........ loud. It took me almost an hour, but I eventually came up with Myrta. I watched a bunch of reviews, and spent a lot of time trying to decide if it's the one that I truly want. I am very happy that I got it, because it is really bright, and it has shimmers in it and it's really dazzling and pretty. I got it today, so I haven't had a chance to try any of it on, but I will try to do a review on them when I do. Oh, and that was from their Surf collection I think. As for the next one, I was just looking for a really pretty color, and I fell in love with Tracie when I saw it. I watched reviews and stuff on that one too. I still do hope that it's not too close to any of my other nail polish colors. but I think that it will be fine. That one is the green one, from the Beach collection. Lastly, I got Breezi. I was looking through the collections and it looked really pretty. Of course, I looked it up on Youtube, and it was super pretty in the reviews and stuff, and I couldn't keep myself from getting it. I think it's the prettiest blue that I've ever owned. I am pretty sure that that was from an older collection, but I don't know, and I don't even remember the name of the collection.

So, that is all of the nail polish that I got during Zoya's promotion, and I'll post the pictures below. I hope that you guys enjoyed this post. Please comment and subscribe! Thanks everyone!

Music notes

I saw this adorable nail art design on Facebook a while ago. And being a pianist, I thought that it reflects my personality pretty well. I'm not posting the original photo today, but it was originally pink. I did in in a really pale, almost minty green from Essie. I'll post exactly which color it was below. I really liked this design, and I thought it was really original. I am also pretty proud of myself for duplicating it. Lastly, I wanted to quickly recommend that if you have a Facebook account, you should like the page named 'nails.' They post really pretty and cute designs. And don't forget to comment in my posts and subscribe!! Thanks. :-)
